Serian UK Trustees volunteer their time to visit UK primary and secondary schools to strengthen the `Global Dimension’ in the curriculum at all levels. We also work with colleges, universities, adult education programmes and informal community groups.
Schools can choose the level of involvement they want – from a one-off assembly or workshop, through pen pal schemes and fundraising links, to a long-term partnership (secondary level only) that involves collaborative projects across the curriculum, teacher exchanges and even school trips to Tanzania.
We provide this service as part of our UK charitable work, and don’t charge any fees. But to enhance pupils’ involvement and learning, most participating schools choose to (a) organise fundraising activities in support of our Tanzanian projects; or (b) ‘adopt’ one or more Noonkodin students as pen pals and pay their school fees for a year.
We currently offer school visits in Southampton, Brighton and Reading, but will consider visits elsewhere in southern England and Wales if the schools can (a) cover standard travel expenses, and (b) pledge to raise at least £250 for the Tanzanian projects. Please contact us for more information.
We’re proud of our DFID/British Council funded Global Schools Partnership, the ‘Learning Together’ Partnership, which has been established between Ellesmere Port Catholic High School (EPCHS) in Cheshire, UK and Noonkodin Secondary School in Tanzania.
